Nothing cuter than a Mother hen with her chicks in tow. I've not had a brooder hen for awhile. Once a long while back I had bantams and they were adorable to see the family walking around together. I have just recently gotten more silky hens but don't have a rooster. Castro is a great name for a rooster :-)
they are sooo cute running around and learning to scratch. daisy is a very smart and protective mama, too. it's also adorable seeing her sitting with all of them under her, peeking out from under her feathers. it's been years since i've had a hen hatch a nest, and i sort of thought it was the end of the line for our chickens, so i'm glad that they are back in force!
