spirit beanie, possibly

  1. beautiful...what size needles? I started something similar with 100% angora but it would fit the jolly green giant...so need to frog it. Tell me the method to your madness...I love it. definitely looks like a spirit beenie to me.

  2. it's so easy to make hats too big! every time i crochet a hat, i have to frog it. with this one, i used size 10 dpns and cast on 70 stitches (i have a big head and i hate my hats to be tight, i think 60 would be good for most ppl). then just knit in the round for like 7 inches because i wanted tall and slouchy. so it's all stockinette stitch but you could make it ribbed too. then started decreasing with something like...

    k2tog, k3 for a row
    knit row
    k2tog, k3
    knit row
    k2 tog, k2
    knit row
    k2tog, k2
    knit row
    k2tog, k1
    knit
did that until i was left with like 6 stitches and then i strung them together. does that make sense? i may start a hat factory because i love beanies in the winter and it was so fun to make!

  3. very nice, yes it makes sense to me....I have a large noggin, and big feet...the rest of me short...some kind of bad trick

thanks, I'm no good with dpn stitches fall off and I get flustered. Need to get my hat out and start all over.

I like your early birthday gifts...funny bunny sculpture and very cute shoes!
